I recently got into collecting cassettes. I’m slowly growing my collection of cassettes by buying them of Bandcamp.
Players
- AIWA HS-P202 M II. I absolutely adore this thing. The auto-reverse is a blessing. It has Dobly NR type B support. Sound obviously does not compare to a lossless audio with a high-end setup, but it’s very nice to just hold and enjoy music to. It also made me appreciate entire albums more since my internet-rotten brain can’t really skip forward on a tape.
- Sony WM-22 Walkman. This thing is alright for the price. The battery cover was missing so I had someone 3D print one. The sound is very noisy. I probably need to open it up and check it out.
Cassettes
- idaidaida (CUTE CERVID Edition) by ida deerz. Probably my favorite because it contains the song I LIKE BUNNIES.
- FANSERVICE by MAILPUP. Gawd, this goes way too hard. Unfortunately the album isn’t that long!
- tifucore by tfwamirite. Pretty decent Hyperflip, Dariacore, Dancecore, Mashcore, etc., a micro genre I very much enjoy!
- CHANGES by Shaian. A single I got on tape by visiting a local music store. Not my usual jam, but still a very nice listen.
- UTOPIA NOW by Rosie Tucker. My first normie appropriate cassettes. It’s very chill and relaxing to listen to with an offbeat melancholic mood.
- DON’T TAKE THE BROWN ACID by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Damn this is nice. Not my usual cup of tea, but I feel like I’m transported to a time before. I wanna slouch on the couch and play retro games with friends now.
